The newly-minted top new artist of country told Fox News after Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards show, "I wasn't planning to come back this season because I wanted to focus on my music. I went back and it's been so much fun to dance with my good friend who happens to be my boyfriend."
AND last night,:
David Alan Grier was voted off, even though the comedian got higher judges' scores than former football star Lawrence Taylor in the results show dance-off. Lawrence had enough viewer votes to put him ahead of David once the total score was calculated, and the comedian was sent home. David said the best thing about being on the show was, dancing with Kym Johnson and meeting all the professional dancers and performers backstage. He added, "There's a lot of support and camaraderie backstage."

Jessica Simpson has reportedly parted ways with her country music label, Columbia Nashville. OK! magazine claimed she was dropped, but a rep noted that Simpson has a previous contract with her longtime label and was only working with the country label temporarily, explaining that she "is and has always been an Epic artist. She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She continues to be on Epic's label." Columbia Nashville, a division of Sony Music, released Simpson's most recent album.

On September 9, 2009, after a nearly 22-year wait, digitally remastered versions of all of the Beatles studio albums will be released, a press release has confirmed. Each album will feature the track listings and artwork as it was originally released in the U.K. and come with expanded booklets including original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each of the Fab Four’s 12 proper albums will be “embedded” with a brief documentary about its making. The rereleases will include the Beatles’ 12 studio albums and Magical Mystery Tour as well as Past Masters Vol I and II, which will be packaged as one collection. All 14 discs will be available with DVDs of the documentaries in a stereo box set, and a set titled The Beatles in Mono featuring 10 discs will also be released.

9/9/09 promises to be a huge day in Beatles lore, as it’s the same day The Beatles: Rock Band will hit stores.

Sources (The Times of India??) are reporting that Robert Downey Jr. has an interest in lining up Coldplay to perform the theme song for his new Sherlock Holmes movie. (Can he make that call??)

House actor Kal Penn is heading to the White House. The actor, whose television character shocked viewers on Monday night's episode, asked to be written off the show because he was asked to join the White House staff as an associate director in the Office of Public Liaison after having worked with the Obama campaign during the last year and a half. Variety reported that his role will be to connect President Obama with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities, as well as arts and entertainment groups.

Nadya Suleman, more commonly known as Octo-Mom, has reportedly inked a deal for a reality show. Kim Serafin, the senior editor at In Touch Weekly reports that in addition to chronicling the lives of Suleman and her 14 children, the show will also follow her quest for love. The deal will reportedly begin when the last of the octuplets returns home from the hospital and Suleman's only reported request is that whoever is producing the reality show does not use the term "Octo-Mom" in connection with the program.
MEANWHILE -
Oprah Winfrey was said to be furious with Dr. Phil after he managed to score exclusive interviews with Octo-Mom Nadya Suleman while her team was still negotiating with her. So, Oprah is set to seek revenge on Dr. Phil - by putting his wife on the cover of O, The Oprah Magazine. "Oprah is trying to branch out from putting herself on the cover every issue. She knew offering Robin a spot would rub Phil the wrong way!" a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer. (consider the source..but how is this gonna make Dr. Phil mad?? Plus, she owns his show, so didn't it all work out anyway??)

Former Melrose Place actress Laura Leighton is set to reprise her role as Sydney Andrews on the CW's upcoming remake. Although Leighton's character was presumed dead on the original program after being run over by a car, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that Andrews resurfaces as a landlord in the new show. Also, Thomas Calabro will be reprising his role as Dr. Mancini, the good guy-turned-cheater, a source tells People. Calabro, who appeared every season in the original Melrose, will be the father to David Patterson, played by Shaun Sipos.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell will appear on an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The Associated Press confirmed that Powell will be shown meeting with a former Army combat medic who suffers from "Gulf War illness" and is confined to a wheelchair. Last time there was a casting call for America's Next Top Model in New York City there was a crowd riot. Usmagazine.com reports that the open audition will be held on Saturday, but a location has yet to be confirmed. The website assured fans that the venue will be posted on the CW's website later in the week. Three people were arrested at the March 14th audition after news of a supposed car fire spread, sparking widespread panic. This time around, no one is allowed to line up before 6 AM and instead of waiting around all day, colored wristbands will distributed, indicating audition times, and girls are encouraged to leave and return at their appointed time.

Although his score was one point shy of last week's perfect 30, Gilles Marini had another great performance on last night's Dancing With The Stars. After wowing the crowd with last week's smoldering tango, Gilles returned with another passionate dance, the paso doble. He started the routine bare-chested and wearing the traditional tightly-fitted flamenco pants. He added a bull-fighter's jacket shortly after the dance began, but that didn't stop Judge Len Goodman from making a disapproving comment about Gilles' pecs later. The audience gave the couple an extended standing ovation and the judges gave the couple a score of 29.
